House Corporation

Kansas Alpha Outstanding House Corporation

We as the HC of Kansas Alpha are always working to go above and beyond. This includes but isn’t limited to Alumni engagement, commitment to our house and property as well as the sustainability of the chapter.

Alumni events and communications.

  • Spring and Fall semester newsletters. Includes a featured alumni, letters from HC, Endowment, Chapter President, and other updates.

  • Spring and fall Happy Hour in Kansas City. We have a 3 hr. Alumni Happy hour every December and May in Kansas City. On a average we have 75 alumni that attend this event. This is to help our alumni stay in touch with each other and get updates from the house.

  • Alumni Dinners. The Housing Corporation pays for a different alumni to take 4-7 undergrads to dinner 2 times a month. We ask the Alumni to share their college experiences as well as their professional experiences to help the undergrads get a better understanding of life after college.

  • Annual Golf Tournament. We have an annual Golf tournament for alumni with a dinner that usually has around 125 Alumni attend. This is a great event that we have done for years and have had years of 175 alumni in attendance.

  • Founders Day. We host a non-formal Founders Day event at the chapter house during a home basketball game where Alumni can bring their friends and family to enjoy the house, undergrads, and other alumni.

  • Chapter House Visits. We the HC visit the house on a weekly basis to interact with the undergrads and help provide guidance. We also have a monthly meeting with the entire Housing Corporation and Undergrad leadership team.

  • Mentorship. The HC provides a mentor for every leadership position in the house. This is an Alumni mentor who will text weekly with the position to help provide oversight as well as best practice ideas.

  • Chapter Executive Position selection assistance. The HC is involved in the interview process for the executive positions within the house. We do this to prevent elections from being a popularity contest and make sure the best candidate wins the race. We also believe this will give valuable interview skills for our members.

Commitment to house property.

  • We have spent over $3 million dollars on our house over the last 10 years. Some years the spend is more than others, however, we always spend a minimum of $200k a summer on work to the house. We are confident that Kansas Alpha is one of the best-kept PKP chapters in the country.

  • Chapter House Updates. We have updated our entire first floor, including the dining room, formal living room, and study areas making them more appropriate for today's students.

  • We have updated all of our member bathrooms, hallways, and sleeping areas.

  • We have updated all the common hang-out areas on each floor offering social space that no other house can offer.

  • We have updated our basement to offer a state-of-the-art golf simulator, arcade games, and venue for watching sports. This was done in honor of our fallen Brother Levi Ward who would have been a senior this year.

Thank you for your time and consideration
